Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito both made weight for Saturday night’s pay-per-view headliner at Madison Square Garden. Cotto came in at 152.25 pounds, Margarito weighing in at 152.5 pounds.

Margarito wore white briefs but literally donned a black hat with his sunglasses as he stepped on the scale to a chorus of boos. Cotto, meanwhile, got an overwhelming ovation from a completely full Theatre at Madison Square Garden.

At stake in the main event is Cotto’s super welterweight title. The Puerto Rican is 4-1 since his first fight with Margarito, suffering a heartbreaking 11th round knockout loss in their July ’08 instant classic. The fight was Margarito’s last hurrah, suffering one-sided losses to Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao (who also dealt Cotto his lone defeat since the Margarito fight) and a one-year suspension for his hand wrap scandal prior to the Mosley bout.

Five of the six fighters on the pay-per-view undercard made weight. Brandon Rios has an hour to drop six tenths of a pound, coming in at 136.4 pounds and then, moments later, tipping the scales at 135.6 pounds.

His opponent for the lightweight title bout, John Murray, weighed in at 134.75.

Other weights:
Delvin Rodriguez — 153
Pawel Wolak — 153.5

Mike Jones — 146
Sebastian Lujan — 146
