Panama's Luis "El Nica" Concepcion, the WBA's interim-super flyweight world champion was notified that he will be elevated to the status of "full champion" after Daiki Kameda of Japan announced that he would vacate the title in order to move up to super flyweight. Rogelio Espino, the representative of Concepción, received a note from Kameda's representatives of Japan in which they communicated the boxer's intention to leave the title so he could climb to the next division.

The WBA had ordered Kameda and Concepcion to fight each other, but now Concepción must find another rival.

"We were making contacts to negotiate about the fight with Kameda, however, they told us that in view of the great sacrifices to make weight, especially in his last fight, have made the decision move up in," Espino told Gustavo Aparicio.

"Now we are looking for an opponent so he could make his first defense as the regular champion. We hope that it will be against a Japanese opponent and the fight could take place in Japan in late February or early March. Now as the regular king he can open a door in Japan, something that suits him for his future."

Among the possible opponents are Tomonobu Shimizu, number 5 in the rankings, former world champion Takefumi Sakata, number nine in the rankings, and Toshiyuki Igarashi, number 15 by the WBA.
