Concepcion Approaches WBO Prez For Brian Viloria Shot

By Jhonny Gonzalez

During his recent visit to Panama, WBO President Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel was appraoched by former WBA champion Luis "El Nica" Concepcion (23-3, 18KOs). Concepcion is preparing for his return after getting knocked out in the first round by Tyson Marquez last October.  Concepcion asked Paco for a shot at the organization's flyweight champion, Brian Viloria (30-3, 17KOs). The WBO President is willing to grant Concepcion a shot - when the Panamian fighter puts together a few victories and fights his way to a mandatory position in the rankings.

Valcarcel told Concepcion - "I know that you're a quality fighter. Hopefully as you keep climbing the rankings and, become the mandatory challenger, you will have your opportunity."

Is there money here for Viloria?

I barely keep my eyes on the divisions that far down...but as a "casual fan" of those divisions...I really would want to see that fight.

Il Inca is powerful. But Viloria needs to a ring KO of the year type win. He can join Pacquiao and Donaire on that list, Il Inca is the perfect boxer for that.

Ninca has a lot of heart, but he is def not world class. If he gets another title shot he has to earn it.
