Veteran trainer David Coldwell, who handles heavyweight contender Tony Bellew among others fighters, expects IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) to do a real job on WBO champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs).
Joshua and Parker are in line to fight each other, likely on March 31. A deal is very close after both sides reached an agreement on the revenue split earlier this week.
"I want see Anthony Joshua against Joseph Parker first. It makes sense for him to get the WBO title. I think he absolutely smashes him to bits. I just don't think Parker's in his league, to be honest," Coldwell said to Sky Sports.
Should Joshua win that fight, there will be one world title within his reach - which is the WBC championship owned by Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs).
Wilder is slated to return on March 3, in a likely world title defense against Luis Ortiz at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Coldwell views Wilder vs. Joshua is a very tough fight for both boxers, and says that it could easily go either way.
"That is the summer blockbuster that the heavyweight division needs. It would be absolutely brilliant and should be at Wembley Stadium. Forget about Las Vegas. I've seen Wilder in sparring and I've seen what a tough fighter he is. It's a hard fight and one where genuinely it could go either way," Coldwell said.
The biggest fight on UK soil is a showdown between Joshua and former unified champion Tyson Fury.
Coldwell admits that contest would be a blockbuster for his country - but his fighter, Bellew, is also gunning for a crack at Fury. Before that can happen, Bellew would have to win his scheduled rematch with David Haye on May 5th.
But if Bellew wins in the coming months, he will certainly attempt to get ahead of Joshua for a Fury fight.
"Tony Bellew could be scuppering these plans, but if he doesn't fight Tyson Fury, then it would have to be that fight for Joshua. If AJ comes through Wilder, then it's AJ versus Fury for what would be the biggest fight in British boxing history. It would be absolutely nuts, and what a fight," Coldwell said.
