Johnathon Banks, head trainer of Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53KOs), says his fighter will let his hands go when he faces Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) in a rematch next year.
In one of the bigger upsets in recent years, Fury traveled to Germany and won a twelve round unanimous decision over Klitschko to capture the IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles on November 28th.
It was Klitschko's first defeat in over a decade. He quickly exercised a contract clause for an immediate rematch.
The IBF has since removed Fury as champion for refusing to face mandatory challenger Czar Glazkov. Three titles still remain around his waist.
Some experts believe Fury's height and size played a big role and bothered Klitschko in the contest.
Size had nothing to do with it, according to Banks. He says Klitschko's reluctance to let his hands go is what cost him the fight. It was the lowest punch output of Klitschko's entire career in a twelve round fight.
"A lot of the world say that Tyson Fury was bigger and it gave him problems. But understand that Wladimir has been fighting big guys his whole career. He won his gold medal against a guy who was bigger than him. He fought guys who were bigger than him throughout his career as a professional. That's never been a problem," Banks told BoxingScene.com.
"In the fight, he just didn't let his hands go. We have a rematch and this time he will let his hands go. That's what I believe will happen."
