Nathan Cleverly will fight Stateside later this month.
Terms have been agreed, according to the Welshman’s promoter Eddie Hearn, for the WBA ‘regular’ light-heavyweight champion to defend his crown against Badou Jack.
The clash, which has been mooted since Swedish-born Jack decided to ditch his WBC super-middleweight belt in favour of a weight move, will take place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as part of the undercard to Floyd Mayweather’s fight with Conor McGregor.
The whole show, which is known as ‘The Money Fight’, will be aired exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and on Showtime in the US.
“The deal is done,” Hearn told iFL TV in a recent interview.
“The only issue we have to overcome is [that] we’re just boxing off with [Dmitry] Bivol [the mandatory challenger] to make sure that the belt can be on the line.
“Now it’s just about making sure that the fight can take place for the WBA world title.”
Gervonta Davis will defend his IBF super-featherweight title, most likely against Roman Martinez, the former WBO super-featherweight champion, while Savannah Marshall will make her debut on the bill.
Shawn Porter is also likely to fight on August 26, perhaps as part of a two-match preliminary card airing on Fox in the United States, prior to the main undercard.
