Cleverly: I Hope Joe Calzaghe Unretires To Help Me

Nathan Cleverly could draft in Joe Calzaghe as a sparring partner ahead of his April 2 clash with Jurgen Braehmer at Wembley Arena.

Cleverly learnt his trade at the gym of Joe Calzaghe's father, Enzo.

And the two sparred dozens of rounds together when Calzaghe was WBO super-middleweight champion.

Cleverly was coming through the ranks then, but is now interim WBO light-heavyweight champion.

And he is aiming to take the full title against Braehmer in six weeks time.

He has already been out running with Calzaghe in the south Wales valleys in preparation for the fight.

And he believes he could persuade Calzaghe - who has been retired for more than two years - to pull on the gloves again.

"It would be great if Joe did come out of retirement, he's definitely got a lot to offer me," said Cleverly.

Joe is too smart to make a comeback.

Confused, does he not realise that a spot of sparring does not = un-retiring from boxing.

Don't really see the value in this TBH, Calzaghe's style is completely different to Braehmers. Ok, they're both southpaws but thats about it! Also IMO Cleverly would be better getting in younger more hungry fighters to better test him. if…

Don't see why he wouldn't do it either if he's been getting in shape running.
