Chris John-Rafael Marquez in Play For August Clash?

By Miguel Rivera

The Marquez family could be positioning themselves to get revenge. According to sources within the Marquez camp, their team is exploring a possible fight between the younger Rafael Marquez, and WBA featherweight champion Chris John. The fight is rumored for an August date in Singapore.

Rafael (40-7, 36KOs) returns on May 5th in Tijuana, Mexico. John (46-0-2, 22KOs has a defense scheduled for the same date, at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, against Japanese challenger Shoji Kimura (24-4-2, 9KOs).

In 2006, John won a twelve round decision over Rafael's older brother, Juan Manuel Marquez. Juan Manuel has always believed that he was robbed by the judges.
