Chisora-Fury II: Liam Smith Ready For Big Show Slot

British Light-Middleweight Champion Liam Smith will defend his title on the huge Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury show on Saturday 26th July at the Phone 4 U Arena in Manchester.

The Liverpool star aims to mark the second notch of the Lonsdale belt against his Yorkshire based mandatory challenger Navid Mansoori.

Smith will feature as joint chief-support to the big domestic heavyweight rematch alongside Billy Joe Saunders’ challenge for the Vacant European Middleweight Championship against Emanuel Blandamura, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/HD 490 and Virgin Ch. 546).

The 25-year-old from the famous boxing family is undefeated 17 fights and last defended the belt in December again Mark Thompson, stopping him in four rounds with a devastating display.

He says Mansoori won’t derail him from his dream of winning the Lonsdale belt outright.

“I think that this is going to be a great fight against Mansoori and you’ll see another top performance from me,” Said Smith.

“He’s very easy to hit and I know once I start landing the heavy shots he won’t be standing up too long.  He likes to have a tear up and that suits me, I know that I can mix it with the best and he’ll definitely come off second best against me because I hit too fast and hard for him,”

“I aim to get through Mansoori and then make a voluntary defence of the British title to win the belt outright and make it my property before looking at a potential European or World title eliminator and Mansoori won’t be getting in the way,”

He added, “It’s a big night to showcase my skills on, Chisora v Fury will be a great fight and Saunders is looking to win the European title, we’ll all be looking to shine on the night and I’m looking to produce something special.”
