Chisora-Fury II: Liam Smith Ready For Big Show Slot

British Light-Middleweight Champion Liam Smith will defend his title on the huge Dereck Chisora v Tyson Fury show on Saturday 26th July at the Phone 4 U Arena in Manchester.

The Liverpool star aims to mark the second notch of the Lonsdale belt against his Yorkshire based mandatory challenger Navid Mansoori.

Smith will feature as joint chief-support to the big domestic heavyweight rematch alongside Billy Joe Saunders’ challenge for the Vacant European Middleweight Championship against Emanuel Blandamura, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/HD 490 and Virgin Ch. 546).

The 25-year-old from the famous boxing family is undefeated 17 fights and last defended the belt in December again Mark Thompson, stopping him in four rounds with a devastating display.

He says Mansoori won’t derail him from his dream of winning the Lonsdale belt outright.

“I think that this is going to be a great fight against Mansoori and you’ll see another top performance from me,” Said Smith.

“He’s very easy to hit and I know once I start landing the heavy shots he won’t be standing up too long.  He likes to have a tear up and that suits me, I know that I can mix it with the best and he’ll definitely come off second best against me because I hit too fast and hard for him,”

“I aim to get through Mansoori and then make a voluntary defence of the British title to win the belt outright and make it my property before looking at a potential European or World title eliminator and Mansoori won’t be getting in the way,”

He added, “It’s a big night to showcase my skills on, Chisora v Fury will be a great fight and Saunders is looking to win the European title, we’ll all be looking to shine on the night and I’m looking to produce something special.”

Tickets are available now, priced from £50, through Eventim on 0844 249 1000 or eventim.co.uk
