Chilemba Sees McGirt as a Key Factor in Beating Bellew

By Terence Dooley

Isaac Chilemba travels to the U.K. to take on Liverpool's Tony Bellew at Liverpool's Echo Arena on March 30 and the 25-year-old South African believes that his partnership with U.S.-based trainer Bubby McGirt could prove a key component on the night as he bids to take Bellew's WBC silver light-heavyweight title and secure a crack at the organisation's 'full' 175lb title.

"Being able to train with Buddy McGirt is great as he is a fantastic trainer and he has plenty of stuff to teach," said Chilemba when speaking to Chris Walker of Merseygloves.co.uk.  "He’s got a lot of experience in this game and I know that he knows what it’s like to fight in the ring.  I work hard, train hard and I always remain focused and disciplined.  I have a really great team behind me and they all give me all the support that I need."

Chilemba, 20-1-1 (9), will have to overcome a determined opponent and vocal crowd, but McGirt is an experienced and calm voice in the corner and his expertise will be needed if the visitor is to beat "Bomber" Bellew, 19-1 (12), on home soil.
