| Chemito Moreno Working Hard, Wants a Showcase Win
|
|
By Jhonny Gonzalez American Stephon McIntyre and local Panamanian boxer Luis Rios are giving some tough sparring to the bantamweight world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), Panama's Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (32-1-1, 11KOs). Moreno is cutting down his weight as he prepares to defend his title for the tenth time on April 21st in El Paso, Texas - against Mexico's David de la Mora (24-1, 17KOs). The fight will be televised by American cable network Showtime. Moreno made his American debut, also televised by Showtime, on December 3rd. He impressed the California crowd with a unanimous decision over big puncher Vic Darchinyan. "We're fine. We're doing hard work for this fight because there are big plans for this year and the one coming up," confirmed Moreno. "I prefer not to comment [about what I plan to do in the fight], I would rather keep my full focus on making a good fight and retaining my championship." I know De la Mora since we where 12 years old, hes been training since he was 6 years old, he's trained by one of the best in the sport, he should have won the Kameda fight, you can't count him off... I smell an upset... |
