Last week, the World Boxing Association (WBA) took away the title status of Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno (31-1-1, 11KOs). They took away the bantamweight's "super champion" status and made him a "champion in recess." They want Moreno to resolve an ongoing legal dispute in Panama with his manager Roberto Grimaldo. Moreno still has the ability to fight, but not with the WBA title at stake. The WBA gave him a two-year window to resolve the issue.
"I do not agree with the WBA's decision, but I respect it. They know that I've respected all the laws of their laws throughout the entire rise my career. I think the legal issue I have with Roberto Grimaldo must be resolved in court. I have a group of lawyers who advise me and they know what to do at this time. I have faith in God that everything will be okay," Moreno said.
