Chavez-Zbik: Beltran Confident Julio Captures Gold

By Jhonny Gonzalez

As previously reported, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will not return on March 19 as expected, and heads directly to a world title fight on June 4 in either Cancun, Toluca or Las Vegas, against unbeaten WBC middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik of Germany. Chavez's co-promoter, Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, is confident about Julio's ability to capture the green belt. Beltran expects a very, very hard fight. The traing camp is very important for this battle. Beltran says Julio must put in the work with Freddie Roach to win this fight.

"The fight will take place on June 4, and we are sending the contract to the Germans and hope they return it signed in a few days. We believe the fight is very important and we do not want distractions. We have to go straight for the championship. The fight will certainly be the toughest of Chavez because he will challenge a true champion, an unbeaten champion who won the title in the ring, and no doubt it will be difficult, but with a lot of preparation with Freddie Roach - things can be achieved. I am sure that Julius Caesar will brighten his name by being crowned on June 4," Beltran told Sal Rodriguez.

Zbik is considered maybe a top 25 middleweight - not a top 5. But he will give Chavez fits because he is a full-fledged middleweight and a boxer who loves to slap and grab before an opponent can punch back.…
