| Chavez vs Zbik Might Land in Dodger Stadium, Says Arum
|
|
By Ryan Burton In a recent report, BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno reported that the middleweight clash for the WBC title, between challenger Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and champion Sebastian Zbik, will take place in Los Angeles, California. It was previously reported that Mexico and Las Vegas were the leading candidates to host the fight. Veteran promoter Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, has revealed that he is looking to place the fight at Dodger Stadium near downtown Los Angeles. While a deal isn't in place, Arum also said the Dodgers co-owner Jamie McCourt would be in attendance for the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga fight on Saturday, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and Chavez-Zbik is on their agenda for discussion.
Arum thinks Chavez Jr is Canelo all of a sudden.
From what I understand Jr vs. Duddy sold very poor in Texas, I guess he makes up for it on the concessions while papering the stadium.
Chavez Jr by himself is not big enough to host a fight at Dodger Stadium, and neither is Canelo yet. However, if they both keep winning and decide to fight each other, that would be huge and could sell out Dodger Stadium. But Chavez Jr by himself doesn't have a realistic chance at that... |
