Zanfer Promotions, who co-promote former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs), have confirmed that his anticipated ring return is being pushed back from July 13th to August 3rd, against Brian Vera (23-6, 14KOs), and most likely at the Mexico City Arena. The fight was initially scheduled for June 22nd. HBO will televise.
Chavez previously revealed that his fight with Vera will be held at a catch-weight above the middleweight limit, likely at 165-pounds. He says there is no problem getting down to the middleweight limit of 160-pounds.
Chavez Jr. has been inactive since last September's twelve round decision loss to Sergio Martinez. Afterwards he was hit with a ninth month suspension for a failed post-fight drug test, where the boxer came up positive for marijuana.
