Chavez Shocks Roman: Conley, Funez Win at Pechanga

Pechanga Resort & Casino, Temecula, California - In a back and forth affair, welterweight Joaquin Chavez (9-14-3, 2 KOs) won an eight round split decision over Jessie Roman. Roman (17-2, 9 KOs dropped Chavez in the first round, while Chavez dropped Roman in the fifth round. One judge scored the bout 76-74 in favor of Roman, while the other two judges scored the bout 77-73 and 76-74 in favor of Chavez.

- In a battle of unbeaten junior middleweights, Joshua Conley (9-0-1, 6 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Antonio Urista (5-1, 2 KOs). All three judges scored the bout in favor of Conley, 59-55, 59-55, and 58-56.

- In an all-out war, featherweight Juan Funez (6-0-1, 2 KOs) won a four round majority decision over Fernando Fuentes. One judge scored the bout 38-38, while the other two judges scored the bout 39-37 in favor of Funez.
