Chavez-Martinez: Weigh-In on HBO, Grand Arrivals News

Boxing fans can get a ringside seat for one of the sport’s most dramatic pre-fight activities when HBO telecasts  WEIGH-IN LIVE: CHAVEZ JR./MARTINEZ, the world championship fight weigh-in, featuring middleweight rivals Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez.  The half-hour special airs Friday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO.

Hosted by Jim Lampley, the fast-moving program will include the moment when both prizefighters tip the scales as well as providing boxing fans with unprecedented access to the festivities.  A social media component will be integrated into the live show, allowing HBO viewers to participate by visiting HBO.com/Connect and sharing their fight prediction (#ChavezMartinez Tweet Battle). All the action will take place at the Wynn Las Vegas.

Bookending WEIGH-IN LIVE will be the all-access HBO reality series “24/7 Chavez Jr./Martinez.”  An encore replay of episode one will air at 6:00 p.m. (ET/PT) and episode two will replay at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT).  An encore presentation of WEIGH-IN LIVE will air at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) followed by an all-new half-hour special “24/7 Overtime: Chavez Jr./Martinez” at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.  Host Jim Lampley will be joined by special guests as he reports from Las Vegas with last-minute news, observations and fight forecasts.

LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion and Son of the Legend, JULIO CÉSAR CHÁVEZ JR., 46-0-1, 32 KOs), of Culiacán, México, and two-division world champion and pound for pound kingpin with the matinee idol looks, SERGIO "Maravilla" MARTÍNEZ (49-2-2, 28 KOs), of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, will make their Las Vegas Grand Arrivals to officially kickoff Fight Week, Today!  Tuesday, September 11, at the South Valet Entrance of Wynn Las Vegas (3131 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, Nev. 89109.)  Open to the public,  Martínez will arrive at 12:30 p.m. PT, followed by Chávez Jr. at 1:00 p.m. PT.  Chávez Jr. and Martínez are six days away from their historic Méxican Independence Day Weekend world championship showdown.
