Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is very confident that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will suffer the second defeat of his career when they collide on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

The two boxers are scheduled to collide on May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo (48-1-1 record with 34 knockouts) vs. Chavez Jr. (50-2-1 with 32 wins within the distance) will take place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds - and headlines an HBO Pay-Per-View card.

Chavez Jr. - although the much bigger fighter and fought at higher weight divisions - is a very big underdog in the contest.

He's won two in a row since suffering a knockout loss to light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara - but that fight took place at 172-pounds.

Chavez Jr. has also been very inactive. He returned in December to pick up a decision win, but that was his first fight since July of 2015 - due to a lingering hand injury. And, Chavez  has not fought below 167.5-pounds since 2012, when he was competing as a middleweight.

For his part, Canelo has never fought beyond 155-pounds and never fought anyone near the physical stature of Chavez. In the majority of his fights, it was Canelo who was the bigger man.

"I do not have it in my mind that I'm going to lose for the third time. The truth is, I don't have it in my mind that I'm going to lose. I'm going to win the fight. I don't see how I can lose the fight unless I have absolutely no conditioning and struggle with the weight. I don't see a possibility of him knocking me out, because I think I've fought with opponents who are much better than him, bigger punchers than he is. I've yet to see him knock out a first-class opponent," said Chavez Jr. to ESPN Deportes.

"He's a good fighter, but in this fight there won't be as many advantages [in his favor] - like when he fought with Liam Smith, (James) Kirkland, (Amir) Khan. I don't think he's felt someone with my strength. Mayweather does not have my strength. That is going to be the difference [in this fight]."
