Chavez-Alvarez Clash Will Happen, Says Beltran

By Miguel Rivera

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions has advised multiple outlets in Mexico that Chavez vs. Alvarez agreement is very close - and it's not the Chavez-Alvarez that fight fans are dreaming of - an all-Mexican dream match between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The two boxers are now too far apart in weight to make that match happen in the near future.

Beltran revealed that discussions have become more serious for a junior middleweight fight between the siblings of the two fighters. A date of September 13th is being targeted for a match between Omar Chavez (32-2-1, 23KOs), the younger brother of Julio, and the older brother of Canelo, Ramon Alvarez (18-4-2, 11KOs).

There is bad blood between the two and they have exchanged words through the social networks.
