Los Angeles, CA – While final details such as date, venue and telecast rights are still being ironed out, promoter Dan Goossen announced that one of the top young heavyweights from the Goossen Tutor Promotions boxing stable – “Fast” Eddie Chambers – has been designated by the IBF as one of four participants in an Elimination Tournament in which the winner will receive a mandatory title shot against IBF Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Also slated to take part in this unique Tournament are #4- ranked Calvin Brock, #5 rated Chris Byrd and #11-rated Alexander Povetkin.

Chambers (29-0, 16 KO), currently the USBA Heavyweight Champion and ranked #10 by the IBF, will battle Brock (31-1, 23 KOs) in a 12-round semi-final bout.

Well on his way toward adding his name to a long list of great fighters out of the city of Philadelphia, which include the likes of Joey Giardello, “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier and Bernard Hopkins, Chambers is coming off an impressive 10-round, unanimous decision victory over Dominick Guinn in a May, 2007 main event bout on Showtime’s “ShoBox: The New Generation.”

In taking on Brock, a Charlotte, North Carolina native known as “The Boxing Banker,” Chambers will be taking another step up in competition against a boxer whose only loss came in a title bout against Klitschko last November, but has rebounded with two victories since that championship bout.

“This is the opportunity I’ve been looking for,” acknowledged the 25-year old Chambers, who is also represented by Rob Murray, Sr. and Rob Murray, Jr. of Score America and trained by his father, Eddie W. Chambers.

“It’s sort of like the NFL playoffs.  Win a couple of rounds and get to the Super Bowl against Wladimir Klitschko.  That’s just what I intend to do; not only get to the Super Bowl, but win it too:  A world heavyweight title.  But my focus and attention right now is preparing for my semi-final opponent, Calvin Brock.”

“Goossen Tutor is proud to be part of this Tournament and congratulate the IBF in announcing it.  The heavyweight division needs new faces and I believe Eddie has the perfect combination of talent, dedication and charisma.  It’s the best scenario, two veterans in Byrd and Brock against two young rising stars in Chambers and Povetkin with the winner earning their right to fight Klitschko,” said Dan Goossen.

“This is just another big step in bringing boxing to the forefront. It’s been a remarkable year for all of boxing, and the promoters and fighters now realize what’s best for the fans and the networks is best for them. But it is the heavyweight division that needs to have two or three rising stars that can emerge and carry the heavyweight division moving forward.  We have those fighters in Chambers, our #1 WBO mandatory challenger Tony Thompson, undefeated Mexican heavyweight contender, Cristobal Arreola (fighting on September 21), and undefeated Travis Walker who will be fighting in August in a WBA sanctioned bout,” Goossen continued.

“Big things for boxing, and the always entertaining “Big Boys” for the fans.  It’s the perfect match,” concluded Goossen.
