| Chagaev Plans To Return Before The End of 2011
|
|
By Ruslan Chikov The former WBA world heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (27-2-1, 17 KOs) is planning to return before the end of the year. Two weeks ago in Germany, Chagaev suffered a twelve round unanimous decision loss to undefeated Alexander Povetkin. Chagaev took the fight after a long layoff and wants to stay very busy to sharpen his skills. "Right now I have to talk with my promoter very soon, because I intend to have at least one more fight this year. It does not matter to me if its an eight or a ten round bout, I just want to box. I need the practice. And next year plan to climb in the rankings and re-qualify for a championship shot," said Chagaev to Championat. Tags: Ruslan Chagaev |
Part of the reason why Povetkin and co. even mustered enough courage to get in the ring with Chagaev was because he looked terrible in his previous bout and was never the same fighter he once was. Chagaev in his physical prime would run through Povetkin.
He has never been good to begin with. Might as well retire. |

If he wants to be a stepping stone by all means continue but go for the paydays while you still can |
