As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the Norwegian Parliament voted - 54 votes to 48 - in Oslo in favor of allowing professional boxing in the country beginning next year. Unlike Sweden for example, Norway will allow pro boxing with international standard.

For WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus this means she gets the first chance to fight at home and the homecoming show is expected to be big. The only problem is that Braekhus broke some bones in her foot in her last fight and is currently limping around on crutches. Braekhus´ contract with Sauerland Event is also up for renewal but that appears to be a lesser problem than in the past.

Braekhus and her advisors expect her first fight in Norway to go ahead in May of 2015. Sauerland have announced they will make a statement soon.

Professional boxing was prohibited in Norway on January 1 in 1982.
