Castellanos Inching Closer To Ponce De Leon Shot

Report and photos by Pepe Rodriguez/WBC

The opportunity to dispute the WBC regular world title is very close for Mexican Robinson Castellanos, who is represented by Fausto Daniel Garcia, president of Boxeo de Gala Promotions.

This announcement was made today by Mauricio Sulaiman to Castellanos, who is the current WBC featherweight silver world champion, in the traditional "Tuesday of Coffee with the media”.

Castellanos, with the Silver belt hanging from his left shoulder, received compliments from Sulaiman Saldivar, because of his successful career.

Robinson Castellanos, who will defend his title next Saturday against Edgar "Lupillo" Ramirez, in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico said: "I am very proud to be here at the offices of the most serious boxing world agency. I just want to comment that I come in search for support, I have been silver champion for the last two years, during which I have proven to be a solid champion and that's why I want that the WBC give me the opportunity to contend for the regular world title”.

Mauricio Sulaiman asked: "Are you ready for a world title fight against Ponce de Leon?”.

The silver champion answered: of course, I feel strong, well prepared, I trust my punching, I feel it will be an explosive fight.

Robinson Castellanos and his team led by the experienced manager Lorenzo Lopez will travel to Villahermosa, Tabasco next Wednesday morning to comply with the promotion for the evening to be broadcast by Televisa in their "Sabados De Corona” series.
