BoxingScene.com has been advised that the International Boxing Federation has given formal sanction approval to set down Johnriel Casimero vs. Jonas Sultan as an IBF bantamweight eliminator for the #1 ranking.
The bout is scheduled for September 16, 2017 at the Cebu Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu City, Philippines.
Fight is part of ALA Promotions’ all-star Pinoy Pride 42 card dubbed “Clash for Glory.”
Pinoy Pride 42 will feature current IBF world light flyweight champion Milan “El Metodico” Melindo’s first title defense against IBO world light flyweight champion Hekkie “The Hexecutioner” Budler.
Winning the interim title in a fight against Thailand’s Teeraphong Utaida November of last year, Melindo became the mandatory challenger to then IBF world light flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi.
Earlier this year in May, Melindo finally won his third world title fight via 1st round TKO in Yaegashi’s hometown in Tokyo, Japan.
Meanwhile, Budler is also coming off a successful world title stint, defeating Filipino Joey Canoy for the IBO world light flyweight crown in South Africa February of this year. Budler is currently ranked 6th in the WBC and IBF light flyweight division. He is a former two-division IBO world champion and held the WBA Super world minimumweight champion.
