BoxingScene.com has been advised that Sampson Boxing submitted the winning bid in for the IBF's mandatory fight between junior flyweight champion John Riel Casimero (17-2, 10KOs) of the Philippines and mandatory challenger Luis Alberto Rios (18-1-1, 13KOs) of Panama.
Sampson Boxing put down $132,000 dollars at this morning's purse bid at the IBF's headquarters in New Jersey. He beat out promoter Rogelio Espino of Promociones y Events del Istmo.
Casimero won the title last February in Argentina with a ten round TKO of veteran Luis Alberto Lazarte. A full blown riot erupted after Casimero had won. The Filipino fighter, manager Sean Gibbons and sidekick Woody were all attacked by a raging crowd.
Rios became the mandatory with an eleven round TKO of Felipe Salguero on October 25th.
