Carlos Takam, Mike Perez Go To a Ten Round Draw

Bell Centre, Montreal, Canada - In a battle of up and coming heavyweight contenders, Carlos Takam (29-1-1, 23KOs) and Mike Perez (20-0-1, 12KOs) fought to a ten round majority draw. The scores were 96-94 (Michael Buffer never said who won that card), with the other two cards reading a 95-95 draw.

The fight started at a very slow pace, with both heavyweights boxing and not brawling. Perez suffered a bad cut above his right eye, from a clash of heads, in the third round. Perez had the edge in the fourth and fifth, but Takam really busted up Perez with an inside war in the sixth. Perez seemed to continue fading in the late rounds of the fight, as Takam continued to press forward with hard punches from both hands to the head and body. Perez was wobbling in a few rounds but continued to fight back until the end.

It was a bad decision. But Takam is a beast and obviously improved since a loss to oft beaten kick boxer Tony Gregory several years ago. He's strong, tough and seems in decent condition for such a heavily muscled guy.…

Kellerman was right on the money tonight. It was easily a 5-5 fight and considered a draw. However Perez got beaten up clearly in the rounds he lost as to Takam losing his rounds closely. If they scored the fight…

[QUOTE=andrewa1;14149331]I admittedly wasn't able to watch the fight last night. I'd thought it would probably be a close fight, but when I read on AP it was a draw, and that it was apparently a boring fight, I decided to…

6'2 256lbs... takam is going to be a hard man to move. he usually is around 240 but many of his fights have no recorded weights. he didn't look fat at all. he didn't throw much early but come round…

I gave the first 5 rounds to Mike (1-5) and the last 5 rounds to Carlos (6-10) I believe Carlos looked more impressive in the rounds he won compared to the rounds Mike won. Thats might of given the impression…
