The former world welterweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Carlos "Tata" Baldomir, said last Friday's points win over Ecuador's Eduardo Flores in Mendoza, ensures his opportunity to fight for a WBC title in Europe. Baldomir expects the fight to happen on a date in September or October and the country of Italy will be the location.
"The fight with Flores served me. There were ten rounds where I never tired. He wasn't a first class opponent, but he endured all of the shots. I'm not a puncher and so it went to the cards," said Baldomir on a radio that airs on RadioGol.com.ar.
"The good thing is that I never got tired. I tried to regulate and manage the fight. I will continue fighting at super welterweight. This is where my final fights will take place. I'm waiting for the promised fight from [supervisor] Mauro Betti of the World Boxing Council. I would be challenging for the WBC International title in Italy in September or October. Hence, my future depends on the fight: If I win, I will continue, and if I lose my retirement will follow."
