Hard-hitting welterweight Carlos Adames stopped former interim world title challenger Jean Carlos Prada in the second round at the Maunoloa Night Club y Casino in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican-born Adames, who resides in the New York City area, improves to 11-0, with 10 KOs.

Prada, who falls to 31-3-1, with 22 KOs, figured to give Adames a significant test on paper, even though he has now lost three of his last four bouts. In his previous bout on April 9, Prada was stopped by interim world junior middleweight titleholder Jack Culcay after the ninth round.

After Adames easily won the opening round, he battered Prada during the second round. Adame stunned Prada midway through the round, following up with combinations until referee Jose Garrido stopped the bout at 2:10.

In bantamweight action, Norberto Jimenez stopped Luis Alberto Zarraga at 1:06 of the second round. Jimenez, who improves to 26-8-4, with 14 KOs, is ranked number nine by the WBC and number four by the WBA at 115 pounds.

Jimenez, who is from nearby Villa Duarte, lost seven of his first eight bouts. He is unbeaten in his last 27 bouts.

Zarraga falls to 8-8-1, 4 KOs.
