Carl Frampton's Motivation is Sky High For Kiko Martinez

By Nick Parkinson , courtesy of The Daily Star

CARL FRAMPTON has gained added motivation to win Saturday's world title fight so he can dedicate it to the memory of his granddad.

The Belfast boxer, nicknamed The Jackal challenges Spaniard Kiko Martinez for the IBF super-bantamweight title after stopping him in nine rounds last year.

Frampton, 27, has shrugged off the expectation of starting a red-hot favourite against Martinez in front of 16,000 fans at a purpose-built outdoor arena in the Titanic Quarter in Belfast.

Frampton's grandfather Hughie died two weeks ago and the unbeaten boxer says he has been given added motivation to win the title in his memory.

The Northern Irishman also insists having his daughter Carla, 3, at ringside is another source of inspiration and a reason why he will not fall victim to complacency.

He said: "It's going to be the first fight my daughter is at.

"And if she is sitting in the crowd I'm not going to let Kiko Martinez embarrass me in front of her."

"There's so much motivation for me with this fight."

TV: Frampton vs Martinez is live on BoxNation (Sky 437/490HD & Virgin 546) next Saturday night. Visit www.boxnation.com to subscribe.

Can't Fcking wait! Won't be easy but I'm rooting for Frampton to repeat the dosage from last year and KO Matinez again. I like both fighters but Carl is da troof.
