Canelo's Options Include Kirkland, Andrade, Clottey

By Salvador Rodriguez

Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 32KOs) met with his promoter, Oscar de la Hoya, at the Los Angeles' offices of Golden Boy Promotions to discuss his ring return in December. Although the name of James Kirkland was mentioned as the main candidate, other fighters like Joshua Clottey and WBO champion Demetrius Andrade have also been added to the list.

The decision as to who Canelo will fight will not be announced until early September, as they need time to plan an extensive media tour, which is going to include a stop to Mexico City, which Canelo has not visited on a press tour since he came there during the promotional tour for Floyd Mayweather last September.

"We are in negotiations. We met with Oscar de la Hoya, Eric Gomez and Robert Diaz of Golden Boy," said trainer Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso. "We seem to have three opponents. One of them is obvious, but they told us to wait until the weekend to see if they could close [the deal]. It will happen in December or the last Saturday of November. All of that is being negotiated. The good thing is that we have plenty of time."

An extensive tour:lol1:......How many ppv flops do these retards need to get it through their skulls that Alvarez isn't a ppv attraction. These 3 options are average at best. Except Clottey, that is downright scary terrible.
