As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has already arrived in California and started training for a planned return on May 2nd.

Canelo's manager/trainer, Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, said they don't have an official opponent in place but they made a team decision to begin the early preparations.

There are ongoing discussions to face WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto on the date. Those plans could change if Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao gets finalized for May 2. Mayweather-Pacquiao would absolutely force Canelo to move to another date.

"We are already in California. We do not know anything about the negotiations [with Cotto], but as for the preparation it has already begun, slowly, but we've already started. We're not doing too much. He is already jogging, doing some movements, nothing strong but in a few days we'll start the stronger stage," Reynoso told ESPN Deportes.
