Canelo: WBC Title Won't Be at Stake Against Angulo
By Miguel Rivera
According to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs), the World Boxing Council's junior middleweight title will not be at stake in the upcoming fight with Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18KOs), scheduled for March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
There was some talk of the title possibly playing a role - if Floyd Mayweather Jr. decided to vacate the belt. Mayweather won the title from Canelo in December, but he also holds the WBC title at welterweight. The sanctioning body asked him to drop one of the titles, but no decision has been made by the unbeaten boxer.
"No, it will not be involved in this fight. Of course it is my dream to become a world champion again, but the belt will not be involved in this fight," Canelo said.

[QUOTE=AP♠;14123030]Canelo is total spoonfed bum dawg from the get. He hasn't won in any legit way any title even @154 the only weight class he's been crusading in. By far Cotto has won multiple titles in different divisions something I…Comment by Boskop on 01-11-2014
However very unlikely, but could this mean Floyd is staying at 154? I'd say there is no one there free to give a good selling fight.Comment by giacomino on 01-11-2014
Winning an alphabet belt has nothing to do with being a "champion." Every third or fourth fighter has a "title" of some type. Canelo will make big money whether there is a bull****e belt at stake or notComment by BendOver on 01-11-2014
