Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya is very pleased to have finalized the all-Mexican mega-bout between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs).

De La Hoya says he wanted to create a pay-per-view that would generate fireworks for the paying fan. The Golden CEO has not been pleased with some of the recent pay-per-view events in recent years that failed to live up to the hype.

De La Hoya will aim to load up the undercard with a lot of Mexican talent. The venue and location is still up for grabs. There are ongoing discussions to hold the event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and AT&T Stadium in Texas.

"This fight is to show the respect we have for the Mexican public. Not only is it great for Mexico, but it is necessary for the boxing world. When you have two Mexicans on a ring, it's synonymous with a war. I want to thank Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for accepting it. In this fight we are going to see who is the best Mexican fighter," De La Hoya said.

"The world knows that it's going to be a war  and not a dance like the other fights that other promoters are doing. We know that if there's going to be a good fight then there will also be a rematch. Our goal is to make the fans enjoy themselves. I'll speak with [Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry] Jones because this fight can get over a hundred thousand people [in Texas]. I also recognize that there are a lot of people who love and miss going to Vegas to see a very good fight. For that reason, we are waiting for the best offer."
