by Salvador Rodriguez
Former junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) has already started some very tough sparring sessions in San Diego, as he prepares for his fight with Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18 KOs) on March 15th from MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the contest.
Canelo started nine round sessions with three different sparring partners. Each sparring partner jumps in fresh for three rounds. According to Canelo's handlers, he is sparring with Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso (23-1, 19 KO), Orlando Lora (29-5-2, 19 KOs), and young prospect Jonathan Esquivel.
The Mexican fighter is working on speed and movement, anticipating that Angulo will press forward from the opening bell with power punch combinations.

Angulo has lost a few lately and will not take this big opportunity lightly. Canelo will still win but angulo is a very live dog in there. Great fight on a great card! Cant waitComment by Cuauhtémoc1520 on 02-07-2014
Lucky Boy is excellent sparring for Canelo. Big, strong, tough kid who can crack. Very similar to what Angulo brings to the table.Comment by whoseyourdaddy on 02-07-2014
