Canelo Says July Return Will Not Land on Televisa

By Salvador Rodriguez

Former WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) has announced that his next return, on July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, will not be carried by Mexican TV network Televisa.

Canelo and his team members are not discussing the details, but there appears to be some issues between the popular Mexican fighter and Televisa, and he decided that he won't bring his next fight to them. Whether or not his upcoming return will head to rival network, TV Azteca, remains to be seen.

The opponent being pursued is WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) of Cuba.

Canelo's manager, Jose Reynoso, discussed the rift with Televisa:

"There has been a lot of trouble between Saul and the company over some things that have happened and that's all I can say. He asked that we, as a team, support him [in his decision]. We have no contract with Televisa, we have never had one. They offered us one, but to date we have not signed. We spoke to the people of Golden Boy and told them that there is no signed commitment with Televisa to transmit the next fight."
I think a typo
Yeah, I reread the 1st sentence and the title before deciding to read the rest of the article and then realized that it was a typo.

This sounds like TV Azteca has been in his ear and are wanting to carry his fights.
