Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, who is the manager of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs), says the Mexican superstar has never looked so good in training camp.
With more than a month of training in San Diego, California, both Chepo Reynoso and his son Eddy, who is Saul's trainer, and Canelo himself, are convinced that they will come out with a victory in their upcoming fight.
Canelo will face his Mexican rival, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., on May 6th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The fight takes place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds. Canelo has never fought any higher than 155-pounds. Chavez Jr. has fought as high as 172-pounds.
"In each fight, each preparation shows us new things, his learning, his maturity and this time we will surely see the best Canelo because apart from that he brings something extra. In this fight there is a matter of honor, an old rivalry and that those are extras that will give him more flavor or warmth to the fight," Reynoso told ESPN Deportes.
"There has been a rivalry for a long time. It seemed that this fight was never going to take place, fortunately there was a good arrangement between the two parties where one would sacrifice and lose weight and another would go up, so they would meet in the middle of the road to make the fight, because it's a fight that the fans were asking for. Since then it's been a fight for honor, because no one wants to be lower than the other or take a step back. I think it will be a fight where the styles will merge, where the common denominator will be the victory and the honor."
"[Chavez's good physical form] speaks volumes about the interest that he has in the fight and now there won't be an excuse when Saul wins, he not say that he did not prepare well, that he had to do this or that, that he battled with the weight. The word on the street is that everything is going very well [in Chavez's camp], and that is very good. And besides that people have the right to see a good fight, a clean fight, with honor, where there are no excuses over anything and where the winner actually deserves to win."
