Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has asked Golden Boy Promotions for a fight with Argentine boxer Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez. Canelo, the WBC's champion at junior middleweight, set the date of May 4 for his next fight. Martinez has the WBC's title at 160-pounds, but doesn't have a problem with moving down in weight.

"We had a meeting with people of Golden Boy Promotions and we agreed that our next fight is on May 4. The first option is Maravilla Martinez," explained Canelo (41-0-1, 30 KOs).

The same night that Canelo destroyed Josesito Lopez, "Maravilla" (50-2-2, 28 KOs) reclaimed his title with a decision win over Canelo's countryman Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
