Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez said he's confident that he can overcome Amir Khan's speed and skills to defend his WBC world middleweight title for the first time this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The 46-1-1 Mexican superstar, 25, told the gathered media in Las Vegas that he had worked hard to combat Khan's speed and elusiveness and that he was confident he would get a remarkable 47th career win.

"There's not much more to say. I'm very happy with the work I've done. Khan is very fast, elusive and tricky. I'm confident with the work that's been done that I can go in there and break him down," the flame-haired Mexican said.

For the first time in his career, Canelo will headline a Cinco De Mayo weekend show in Las Vegas, and the proud Mexican made it clear he's on a mission to celebrate his national holiday in style.

"I don't go in there thinking about power," said Alvarez. "There's a lot more to me than just power. When you see me in the ring on Saturday night, you'll find out.

"I already have a lot of experience but the best is yet to come. I'm 25 years old, I've had a good career and the best is yet to come. I want to fight for the next 10 years which will be better than my first 10 years."

"I feel comfortable at 154lbs. I know I'm fighting for the 160lbs title but that one extra pound is lighter on my body and I feel better."

"While I am at this weight, I will not fight someone who weighs 160lbs - that would be an advantage to the opponent - why would I give them that advantage?"
