WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez refused to respond to his Mexican rival, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The two superstars are going to return this Saturday in separate events in Las Vegas. Chavez took a shot at Canelo in televised interview in Mexico. He says Canelo's weekend defense with Josesito Lopez is a circus act. Chavez will face Sergio Martinez, one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Canelo is not even considering a possible fight with Chavez, but he does has a great desire to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. next.
"I believe that he thinks and say things because he likes to talk. I believe that Julio is the last person who should be questioning me. I do not have anything against anyone. This is a sport. I prepare myself to fight whoever they place in front of me. If he wants to talk about me, it's his thing. He believes the sun will rise for everyone, but he's going to find out," Canelo said.
"For the time being, a fight with Julio is not in our sights. But if it happens one day - we are ready for that. The day that happens is when we are going to start discussing what would happen in such a fight. I'm a lot more interested in facing Mayweather. I would be the happiest man in the world if I received this fight."
