Canelo, Golden Boy Partner Up For 17 Televised Events

By Hesiquio Balderas

CANELO PROMOTIONS and GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS have reached an agreement and they will form an alliance to present the best boxing events possible in an unique partnership that will gather the best up and coming talent from both entities. The result of this business union is a presentation of 17 boxing shows that will air on Mexican television network Televisa, and Fox Deportes, during 2013.

"We are extremely happy, we are ready and motivated to continue to work with De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions" said Edison Reynoso, CEO of CANELO PROMOTIONS.

A few days ago, executives from both promotional companies reached an agreement and came to terms regarding their business, and they also confirmed that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will defend his WBC 154-pound title on May 4th and September 14th.

"It's been less than three years since we created CP and we exceeded every goal that we had set for ourselves. We are going in the right direction and we are looking forward to a bright future," concluded Reynoso, who also said his father Chepo and Canelo Alvarez had made CP one of the premier promotional companies in Mexico.

The new partnership between GBP and CP will start on February 2 on Mexican soil with a doubleheader between female world Campion Yazmín "Rusita" Rivas, and undefeated world ranked contender Andres "Jaguar" Gutierrez.
