WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) is confident in his ability to overcome his mandatory challenger, WBA/IBO/IBF champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs).

This past Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo made the first defense of his title with a knockout of former champion Amir Khan in six rounds.

Golovkin was sitting ringside and watching the action. After that fight, Canelo called out Golovkin and was very tense in his words by saying Mexicans 'don't f*** around.'

Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions, is going to speak with Golovkin's team to begin the fight negotiations. Canelo feels some of the experts are pushing Golovkin as some unstoppable machine, which the Mexican superstar disagrees with.

"Critics always will criticize, so I do not worry about it. All I care about is to keep winning ," said Canelo. "I yelled [for Golovkin] to get in the ring to show that I'm not afraid of anything. I meant what I said with all my heart, with all the courage I have."

"In this fight we don't have to fight for any belts, we can fight for honor and glory, nothing more. [I spoke with Golden Boy] in my house and told them 'God willing if all goes well as we think and believe [with Khan], then make an offer to him because I want to fight him, or rather....I do not want to fight him - I want to beat him."

"My fights give me confidence, they give me experience. I have experience to fight anyone. In my 25 years I have fought the best in the world. He is a great fighter, but he's not what everybody thinks he is."
