Junior middleweight rivals Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) and Alfredo "Perro" Angulo (22-3, 18KOs) are not on the same page regarding an incident which took place several years ago in Mexico.

According to Canelo and his co-trainer/manager Eddy Reynoso, Angulo showed up at a card in Mexico where Canelo was the headliner. After the match, Canelo's team members claim that security had to be involved because Angulo attempted to go after Canelo.

"Yes, there was an incident in Mexico. I didn't even know about it.....they told me later. He tried to rush me and obviously security did their job. I didn't even know about it until later," Canelo said.

However, Angulo denies that he tried to go after Canelo - and claims security got involved for no apparent reason.

"That's a lie. They didn't want me to come close to Canelo. Canelo had to come down from the ring. And I had a problem with security that was around [Canelo]. One of Canelo's security guards put their hands on me. It had nothing to do with Canelo and I don't let anyone out their hands on me, so I told the security guard to take his hand off me. He acted like he was going to hit me and I told him that he better think twice before he tries that," Angulo said.

Canelo says there is no personal grudge with Angulo, despite various reports which claim the two fighters dislike each other.

"I have no problems with him whatsoever. I don't know him. I've never crossed words with him," Canelo said. "I have no problems with him whatsoever. I can't have problems with somebody that I don't know."

Canelo's team members have often claimed that Angulo has been taking shots at them and demanding a fight for some time. Those are claims that Angulo flatly denies.

"That's a big lie [that I've bad talked about him]. I've never talked like that, because I've never chased any fighter. The dog has always fought with anyone, I never care. They are the ones who always speak badly of me.....especially Eddy Reynoso. He is the one who always speaks bad about me...why I don't know. It seems weird because they are a level above me, supposedly. Why do they have to bother talking about me? I find it weird," Angulo said.

The two fighters will settle any possible differences on Saturday night, when they clash in the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View event from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
