Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) has revealed his upcoming fight with Liam Smith is likely to be his last at super welterweight.

Alvarez challenges for Smith’s WBO World Title at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas with a chance to secure another belt at the weight after previously holding the WBC and WBA versions of the Title.

With a proposed super-fight against WBC, WBA, IBO and IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin speculated for late 2017, Canelo admits this could be his last fight before moving up to 160-pounds.

“We are thinking this is probably the last fight at 154 lbs. But right now we are only thinking of this fight,” revealed Canelo to FightHype.

The flame haired Mexican hero continued: “I feel comfortable and feel I make the weight good but I think I will feel much more comfortable moving up in weight class.”

In order to grow into a fully-fledged Middleweight, Canelo has been tipped to give himself a year to prepare before the potential Golovkin showdown.

Speaking on September 17th’s fight with Merseyside maverick Liam Smith, Alvarez explained: “The weight and dieting is always difficult but it won’t complicate things for us. We are professionals and we will make the weight.”
