According to promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, former WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (23-6-1, 10K0s), 35-year-old, is currently in the Virgin Islands as a sparring partner for John Jackson (18-1, 15KOs), who faces Andy Lee (32-2, 22KOs) on June 7th as part of the Cotto-Martinez HBO pay-per-view undercard.

Campillo was notoriously known a guy who didn't take every training camp seriously. Lewkowicz says his fighter is now refocused and rededicated.

"He had a few bad breaks with very controversial decision losses to Beibut Shumenov and Tavoris Cloud. He cleaned up his bad habits that were affecting his training camp. He came back a few weeks ago with a very good knockout win over Ricky Pow. He is working very hard to get himself back in position for a world title shot," Lewkowicz told BoxingScene.com.

Good to hear that Campillo is still around. But a guy named "Ricky Pow"? Seriously...? :laff:
