Cameron Hammond Ready To Shine On Mundine-Clottey Bill

Cameron Hammond will get his toughest test to date when he appears on the undercard of Anthony Mundine's clash with Joshua Clottey in Newcastle, New South Wales  on Wednesday  night.

His opponent, Adrian Campbell, has a mixed record but knows his way around a ring and has faced most of Australia's best welterweight and light-middleweights.

Hammond, 24, has barely dropped a round since turning professional in late 2012 and will be aiming to take his ledger to 9-0 with a stellar performance in front of a PPV audience.

"I'm really looking forward to boxing on such a big card.  I thank my promoter Ricky for making it all possible," the London Olympian said.

"My preparation has been really good and I've been getting my weight down bit by bit.

"Campbell is a tough guy, I don't think he's ever been stopped, so it's going to be a good fight.

"I'm learning plenty in the gym, sparring the likes of Paddy Murphy, Jarrod Fletcher and Jeff Horn. I just can't wait to get in there again."

Hammond earned a number of plaudits after beating Pramool Boonpok and Michael Correa earlier this year and his co-manager Matt Clark believes a recent relocation has enabled him to sharpen skills.

"He's really dedicated himself for the last few months, since he moved from Moree to Brisbane full-time," Clark said. "He's a great kid and I know some people like former IBF world champion Barry Michael absolutely rave about his ability.

"He's flying under the radar a little bit at the moment and we're happy to have it that way.

"This is a good step up for Cameron.  Adrian Campbell has been sparring with Mundine, so we know he's in great shape.  So is Cameron, so we're hoping for a really good performance".
