Puerto Rican boxer Hector Camacho Jr. is furious over reports that backed away from a scheduled fight with Dmitriy Salita on April 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, had said Camacho withdrew from the fight because of the date switch. The match was initially set for February 9th but then moved after the main event fighter, Danny Garcia, suffered a rib injury and was unable to move forward with his fight against Zab Judah.
"I never withdrew from the fight. My promoter told me Salita did not want to fight me. I still want the fight. I'm training in Puerto Rico right now and I want to do the fight. All Schaefer has to do is contact my manager and we are ready. They told us that the fight was canceled and I never said I would take another course," Camacho Jr. told Carlos Gonzalez.
