By Rick Reeno

Moments ago, Promoter Frank Warren officially announced to the media that WBO super middleweight Joe Calzaghe will face WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler on November 3rd in Cardiff, Wales at the Millennium Stadium. Warrren expects a record crowd of over 63,000 to attend the fight.

At the present, there is no deal with any American-based television network. Warren said that a deal is close and hopes that everything will be completed by next week. He would not specify which network, HBO or Showtime, is close to landing the fight.

“We are still working on that. We are still working to conclude our deal. It’s the best fight out there. It’s such a good fight that nobody can ignore it. I’m confident that something will be done,” Warren said.

Warren stressed that Calzaghe-Kessler will proceed regardless of a US television deal being completed.

This is a fight that should be happening. If anything it will atleast make more future fights maybe if Taylor is going up after his fight with Pavlik or if Pavlik fights one of these guys after either way would make for some future entertaining fights and probably an entertaining one of its own....
