Calderon Can Continue in Boxing as a Trainer, Scout

By Jhonny Gonzalez

If Ivan Calderon decides to retire from boxing, promoter Peter Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing has several positions for Calderon in his company. on Saturday in Bayamon, 37-year-old Calderon (35-3-1, 6KOs) suffered the third knockout loss of his career. WBO 105-pound champion Moises Fuentes of Mexico stopped him in five rounds.

"Ivan is an incredible talent when it comes to coaching and he is interested in working as a coach. He's a great teacher and has the patience and wisdom to deal with boxers, and I see a great future [for him in that area]," Rivera told Raul Alzaga.

"But Calderon is also a very smart guy and has excellent relationships that may work successfully in other areas of boxing if he wished. You can help us as a scout, or work in the office and help us with the company. Calderon's life in boxing does not end with retirement. It just changes his role."
