The world featherweight of World Boxing Association (WBA), Panamanian Celestino "Pelenchín" Caballero is very confident that he will knock out his mandatory challenger Micky Garcia .
"He's undefeated, but he is also very slow and it's going to be hard for him with me," Cabellero said. "I'm going to hit him with a lot of punches, I'll be careful and then I'll knock him out. I have fought undefeated fighters who are stronger than him, like Daniel Ponce De Leon, and I've beaten them."
Caballero (36-4, 23KOs) and Garcia (28-0, 24 KOs) should meet in the coming months. The WBA called for a purse bid on May 3 in Miami, where the two sides will advise the sanstioning body of some possible dates and a venue.
On the other hand, Caballero has revealed that he is close to signing a new promotional deal with a company based in the United States. He says negotiations with the company are very advanced.
"Everything has been discussed and I'm just waiting for a signature. I can't say anything right now, but it is a big company and it's not Top Rank," Caballero said. "I am just hoping that it is finalized soon so they take the lead in representing me at the purse bid."
Sources with knowledge of the details have advised BoxingScene.com that Caballero is likely signing with Mayweather Promotions. Caballero is trained by Jeff Mayweather, the uncle of Foyd Mayweather Jr.
