Former world champion, Celestino “Pelenchín” Caballero (37-5, 24 KO’s) revealed that he’s negotiating to secure a rematch with Daniel Ponce de Leon (45-5, 35 KO’s) for a WBC title.
“There’s nothing official yet. Negotiations are taking place, but I’m ready to grant the rematch to Ponce de Leon,” Caballero said.
Caballero handed Ponce de Leon his first career loss by unanimous decision over ten rounds on February 17th, 2005.
Ponce De Leon moved up to super featherweight last November, winning a ten round unanimous decision over Joksan Hernandez. Caballero was also in action in November, stopping Jimmy Aburto in two rounds.
